CEVA, Inc. The resulting joint IP solution delivers synchronized left/right audio over standard Bluetooth dual mode connected links with short latency and without the power consumption penalty associated with many of today’s TWS implementations.

Audio streaming via A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) is a proven strength of Bluetooth, but with the advent of wireless earbuds, new challenges have arisen. With traditional Bluetooth stereo headphones, the headphones are seen as a single end-point. With earbuds, however, the left/right sink points are now physically separated and the Bluetooth A2DP paradigm is challenged to stream audio with the necessary degree of synchronization. To date, a number of different solutions have appeared to address this, such as audio-forwarding and eavesdropping, but these solutions often result in significant battery drain on the already power-restricted earbuds.

Tempow and CEVA are leading the charge on a new, optimized approach which eliminates the need for the inter-earbud secondary wireless link and which works with any Bluetooth AD2P enabled phone on the market. Within the phone, a straight forward software update is needed to install the Tempow Audio Profile (TAP). Within the earbuds, CEVA and Tempow have collaborated to implement a joint solution, which delivers the essential high quality audio synchronization over standard Classic Bluetooth BR/EDR links. This solution was demonstrated to a wide audience, with much praise, at the recent CEVA Technology Symposiums in Asia.

BT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Europol, The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Co-operation, to share knowledge about major cyber threats and attacks, as the two organisations reinforce their efforts to create a safer cyber space for citizens, businesses and governments.
The agreement, which was signed by both parties at Europol’s Headquarters in The Hague in the Netherlands, provides a framework for BT and Europol to exchange threat intelligence data as well as information relating to cyber security trends, technical expertise and industry best practice.
Steven Wilson, Head of Business, European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), said: “The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding between Europol and BT will improve our capabilities and increase our effectiveness in preventing, prosecuting and disrupting cybercrime. Working co-operation of this type between Europol and industry is the most effective way in which we can hope to secure cyberspace for European citizens and businesses. I am confident that the high level of expertise that BT bring will result in a significant benefit to our Europe wide investigations.”

BT is committed to sharing its threat intelligence data with industry partners and law enforcement agencies such as Europol in a secure and trusted way, as a means of better protecting UK and global customers from the rapidly expanding cyber-crime industry. Earlier this year, it became the first telecommunications provider in the world to start sharing information about malicious software and websites on a large scale with other ISPs via a free online portal – the Malware Information Sharing Platform (MISP). Since the platform was launched, BT’s worldwide team of more than 2,500 cyber security experts have so far helped to identify and have shared the details of more than 200,000 malicious domains. The recipients of BT’s threat intelligence data have then been able to take the appropriate course of action to protect their customers and stakeholders against the specific threats identified.
Europol created the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) in 2013 to strengthen the law enforcement response to cybercrime in the EU in a bid to better protect EU citizens, businesses and governments from online crime. It also operates the Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce (J-CAT), which aims to drive intelligence led, co-ordinated action against key cybercrime threats and targets by facilitating the joint identification, prioritisation, preparation and initiation of cross-border investigations and operations by its partners.

“Using appliances to meet the ever-increasing need to inspect encrypted traffic is costly, complex, and completely unsustainable. Legacy hardware approaches simply cannot keep up with the volume, and so organizations are turning to cloud solutions to provide the global scale and coverage they require,” said Robertson.

Gartner estimates that by 2020, more than 60% of organizations will fail to decrypt HTTPS efficiently, missing most targeted web malware, and a staggering 99% of vulnerabilities exploited will be ones security and IT professionals have known about for at least a year.
