Hong Kong, China, March 30, 2021 /Xinwengao.com/ - The United States is the single most popular destination for cross-border residential real estate buyers from across Asia, according to the new Top 10 Asian Buyer Picks report from Asian real estate technology group Juwai IQI.

Australia, Thailand, Canada and Malaysia make up the rest of the top five markets. Japan is sixth most popular, followed by Singapore, the UK, New Zealand and France.

Of the ten most popular Asian-buyer markets, six are in the Asia Pacific. The US, Canada, the UK and France are the only top-ten nations not in the Asia Pacific.

Juwai IQI’s report identifies four drivers of Asian cross-border buying demand.

Interest rates have dropped to historic lows and monetary stimulus has helped drive prices upward in many markets. Buyers worry as a result that they will miss out on future price gains. They are eager to find opportunities to benefit from price growth.

Because of the pandemic, many Asian buyers have reevaluated their cross-border real estate priorities. This is similar to changes that have occurred within local markets.

Some Asian cross-border buyers are also driven by factors in their home markets that make investing there less appealing. In China, government real estate restrictions cause some buyers to look overseas. Other countries face insufficient inventory or weak confidence. There is a large number of buyers who postponed acquisitions during the pandemic and are eager to make up for lost time.

“In 2020, the pandemic scrambled existing patterns of investment, migration and overseas education,” said Juwai IQI Co-Founder and Group Executive Chairman Georg Chmiel.

“All of these factors have a direct bearing on Asian cross-border real estate investment.”

Hong Kong, China, March 8, 2021 /Xinwengao.com/ - Visa Franchise, the leading advisor for identifying and analyzing US businesses for foreign nationals who qualify for the E-2 Visa, has recently launched their E-2 Visa Approvals and Denials Statistics report for 2020. The E-2 Visa is one of the most popular US visas a foreign national can obtain in order to immigrate to the US. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the number of visas issued by the US has dropped from 8,7 million non-immigrant visas issued in 2019 to only 4 million non-immigrant visas issued in 2020.

Visa Franchise notes that the E-2 Visa has suffered several policy changes in 2020. These changes were in large part due to the mandate in Section 10 of Executive Order 13780, requiring the Department of State to review all non-immigrant visa reciprocity agreements to make sure they are truly reciprocal. As a result of these changes, citizens of Macedonia are no longer eligible for E-2 Visa, the citizens of Chile, Denmark, Norway, and Latvia have their E-2 Visa validity period reduced, and the citizens of Mexico have their E-2 Visa validity period extended from 12 months to 48 months. In 2020, only 23,493 foreign nationals obtained an E-2 Visa, while 3,266 applicants were rejected. This translates to a denial rate of 12,21%, which is less than half of the 25% denial rate for all non-immigrant visas.

According to Visa Franchise, Japan is the country with the highest E-2 Visa issuances with 8,654 Japanese citizens obtaining this type of visa in 2020. Most of the Japanese E-2 Visas are for E-2 managers that are transferred to work in a E-2 company in the United States. The next places in the report are occupied by Canada with 2,500 approvals, South Korea with 1,973 approvals, Germany with 1,487 approvals, France with 1,279 approvals, Great Britain and Northern Ireland with 1,275 approvals, Mexico with 838 approvals, Italy with 827 approvals, Spain with 583 approvals, and on the 10th place Taiwan, China with 390 approvals. Most E-2 Visas from countries besides Japan and Germany represent investor visas applied by individual entrepreneurs who plan to operate a small U.S. business.

Getting approval for certain immigrant and non-immigrant visas has become more difficult due to the stricter immigration policies implemented under the Trump administration. The E-2 Visa is one of the most popular and sought-after visas in the entire US immigration system. This visa allows applicants to renew indefinitely, enter and exit the US multiple times in the validity period and stay in the US for as long as two years per entry.

Visa Franchise is providing a smooth and secure path for families moving to the US through the E-2 investor visa. They can help foreign nationals looking to legally reside in the US by investing in a US small business. Their team analyzes the best business opportunities for their clients based on their unique profiles. Their research team constantly analyzes franchise and business concepts in order to deliver the best small business investment solutions directly to the customer.

According to a New Whitepaper by Metaari, International Investments in Learning Technology Companies in 2020 Surged to Over $36.38 Billion

Washington, United States, January 13, 2021 /Xinwengao.com/ - Metaari has published their annual whitepaper in the first week of January every year since 2004. The new free whitepaper has 61 pages, 6 tables, and eleven charts. It is called “The 2020 Global Learning Technology Investment Patterns: Massive Spike in Funding.”

Global investment to learning technology companies surged to a breathtaking $36.38 billion in 2020, up dramatically from the $18.66 billion invested in 2019 and more than double the $16.34 billion invested in 2018. The number of deals spiked from 896 in 2019 to 1,251 deals in 2020.

This whitepaper breaks out investments made to ten types of learning technology products: three legacy products and seven advanced learning technologies. The legacy products include Self-pace eLearning (asynchronous courseware), Digital ReferenceWare (test prep, audiobooks, videos, manuals, etc.), and Collaboration-based Learning (synchronous live online classes and tutoring)

The advanced learning technology products include AI-based Learning, Mixed Reality Learning (Simulation, AR, and VR), Game-based Learning, Cognitive Learning (behavior modification), Mobile Learning, Location-based Learning, and Education and Training Bots (both physical and virtual).

“Despite the massive funding going to Chinese companies, the US accounted for the highest amounts of funding,” comments Sam Adkins, the Chief Researcher at Metaari. “Just over $16.15 billion went to 611 US learning technology developers in 2020. This is 44.4% of all global investments made in 2020.”

There were very large investments made to online learning companies in China, but only to a few companies. A full 31.6% ($11.52 billion) of all global investments in 2020 went to just 125 Chinese companies. Yet, this funding was highly concentrated in just two companies: Yuanfudao and Zuoyebang. Combined, they garnered 50.8% of all funding going to Chinese learning technology developers in 2020.

“Combined, the US and China accounted for 76.0% of all global funding in 2020,” comments Adkins. “Yet, there are major differences in the investment patterns in China and the US. In China, investors pumped very large amounts into a relatively small number of companies and most of them offer live online classes.”

Investments in the US were much smaller than China but went to a large number of companies. The one striking thing about the investment patterns in the US is the keen investor interest in AI-based Learning companies. A total of $8.45 billion was invested in 287 AI-based Learning companies in the US in 2020. To put this in context, a full 83% of all global investments in AI-based Learning went to US companies. In sharp contrast, “only” $534.6 million went to just 22 AI-based Learning companies in China; a mere 5.3% of the total global investments made to AI-based Learning companies.

Investment in corporate-facing companies in 2020 nearly doubled compared to 2019; investment reached a breathtaking $10.39 billion in 2019. A massive $17.22 billion went to 702 corporate-facing companies in 2020.

Funding declined for consumer-facing learning technology companies in 2019 but rebounded dramatically in 2020. Funding dropped to $6.67 billion in 2019, but spiked to $13.48 billion in 2020.

In 2019, there were only 84 deals made with PreK-12 learning technology companies and investment fell to $855.32 million. This changed dramatically in 2020, with $4.39 billion going to 107 companies serving the PreK-12 segment. In 2020, funding to learning technology suppliers serving the global higher education segments surged to $1.09 billion.

The big winners in 2020 were AI-based Learning developers, Collaboration-based Learning (live online tutoring) providers, Mixed Reality Learning developers, and Mobile Learning edtech companies. But it was AI-based Learning that attracted the largest amount of funding by a wide margin.

An astonishing $3.67 billion was invested in 120 AI-based Learning companies in 2019. This pales in comparison to the $10.17 billion that went to 359 AI-based Learning companies in 2020. The vast majority (83%) of funding went to US startups.

Corporations (particularly healthcare firms) are the top buyers of AI-based Learning followed by federal government agencies across the planet. Companies and agencies are using AI-based Learning in cybersecurity training, pre-employment assessment, intelligent business simulations, augmented predictive analytics (also called insight engines), big data visualization, knowledge graphing, digital twins and digital employees, and a relatively new trend, AI-based IT operations and support (AIOps). AI has essentially reinvented the call center industry.

AI-based Learning is used in five major ways in healthcare: pathology, analytics, diagnosis, etiology (causation), and treatment (therapy). When enhanced with AI, platforms designed for all five become knowledge engines.

“Perhaps the greatest impact on AI-based Learning in the healthcare industry are the advances being made in precision medicine, clinical decision support, and in imaging diagnostics,” adds Adkins.

There was a sharp spike in investments made to PreK-12 learning technology providers in India. Just under $3.0 billion ($2.96 billion) in capital flowed to 114 learning technology companies in India in 2020, but 38% of this went to just one company; the online education juggernaut BYJU’S raised $1.11 billion in five rounds in 2020.

Learning technology investments spiked in the UK and Germany in 2020 but declined in France and Canada compared to 2019. Investments rebounded in the Nordic Cluster, Israel, and Australia after declines in 2019. Investment activity is inherently unpredictable and nowhere is that more apparent than the rebounds and declines in 2020.

Latin America is again a hotbed of investment in edtech startups after three years of decline. In 2019, only $98.7 million was invested in just 12 learning technology companies in the region. That changed dramatically in 2020 with 23 companies raising $346.0 million in funding.

Eighteen edtech companies in Southeast Asia raised a combined total of $327.8 million in funding in 2019, up more than four times from the $75.5 million invested in 2018. This spiked dramatically in 2020 with $595.9 million going to 41 edtech companies in the region.

#1 risk for 2021: 46*—Biden’s election heralds era in which half of America’s voters view every new president as illegitimate.

New York, USA, January 12, 2021 /Xinwengao.com/ - As we begin 2021, the United States is the most powerful, politically divided, and economically unequal of the world’s industrial democracies. China is America’s strongest competitor, a state capitalist, authoritarian, and techno-surveillance state that is increasingly mistrusted by most G20 countries. Germany and Japan are much more stable, but the most powerful leaders both nations have had in decades are out (former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo) or on their way out (German Chancellor Angela Merkel). Russia is in decline and blames the US and the West for its woes.

Even as the world grapples with its worst crisis since World War II, some risks are more potent, deadly, and likely to change the course of world politics. These are Eurasia Group’s Top Risks for 2021, the firm’s annual prediction of the ten greatest threats to the trajectories of nations, global politics, industries and institutions. Unveiled each January, Top Risks helps investors, companies and the public anticipate and respond to opportunities wherever they invest or do business. The report is co-written by Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer and Chairman Cliff Kupchan.

The #1 risk for 2021 is “46*”—the opening of an era in which the occupant of the White House is viewed as illegitimate by roughly half the country. Donald Trump’s refusal to accept the outcome of an election that he declares was stolen is unique in American history, underscoring how divided America has become—and will remain.

“A superpower torn down the middle cannot return to business as usual,” write Bremmer and Kupchan. “And when the world’s most powerful country is so divided, everybody has a problem. The geopolitical recession—and our G-Zero world—will deepen as a result.”

Bremmer and Kupchan go on to argue that the strength of Trump’s base and political divisions in the US will force allies to consider the possibility that any commitments made by the incoming Biden administration could be overturned in four years with the election of another “America First” president.

Other Top Risks in the report include the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic, climate change, the US-China conflict, data and cybersecurity, and distinct threats facing Turkey, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America. The report also includes several “red herrings”—issues that, despite media attention, are unlikely to pose significant threats or drive instability in the coming year.

Top Risks has an impressive track record for being both early and accurate in its predictions. Eurasia Group’s 2020 Top Risks report, for example, correctly predicted a contested US election as its #1 risk.

Bremmer and Kupchan will host an on-the-record press conference call today, 4 January, at 10:30 a.m. EST/15:30 GMT to discuss the risks and take questions. To participate, please register here.

Below is a summary of all ten Top Risks for 2021. Please click here for the full report.

TOP RISKS 2021

When the world’s most powerful country is as divided as the United States is now, the G-Zero geopolitical recession is sure to deepen. The world needs the leadership and cooperation that an engaged and well-functioning superpower can help provide, because, just as the healthcare response to the coronavirus pandemic defined 2020, the economic response to its lasting damage will define 2021.

#1 – 46*

Following a 2016 Trump victory that many Democrats believe Russia helped him win, Biden’s term opens the era of the asterisk presidency, a time when every Oval Office occupant is seen as illegitimate by roughly half the country—and the lawmakers that election skeptics send to Congress. Most of the risk here is domestic, but the consequences of extreme polarization for democratic legitimacy extend well beyond US borders. Apart from a shared desire to contain China, Republicans and Democrats will disagree sharply—with each other and among themselves—over the objectives of US foreign policy. In addition, the size of Trump’s base, and the broadening of that base to include more minority voters, leaves allies and potential partners wondering whether the next “America First” president and foreign policy are just four years away.

#2 – Long Covid

In 2021, the lingering symptoms of Covid-19 will threaten not just lives but political stability and the global economy. Countries around the world will struggle to meet ambitious vaccination timelines, and the pandemic will leave a legacy of high debt, displaced workers, and lost trust. The distribution of vaccines will divide haves from have nots, both within and among nations, stoking anti-incumbent anger and public unrest in many countries. Some emerging markets will experience a debt crunch this year. With inflation and borrowing costs rising, they’ll have far less room than the US and Europe to cushion Covid’s economic blow.

#3 – Climate: net zero meets G-Zero

Climate policy will move from playground of global cooperation to arena of global competition. Across a range of clean technologies, China’s longstanding industrial policy approach will now face a much more aggressive climate push from Washington. Some parts of the clean energy supply chain will face bifurcation pressures like those seen in 5G. The push for net-zero emissions targets will create enormous opportunities for private capital, especially the growing pool of environmental, social, and governance dollars and euros, but winners and losers will be determined as often by political factors as by market forces.

#4 – US-China tensions broaden

A shared desire in Washington and Beijing for stability in US-China relations will briefly ease headline tensions, but intensifying vaccine diplomacy and climate and tech competition will combine with longstanding frictions in other areas to further complicate their rivalry. Disagreements over trade, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the South China Sea will carry over into 2021. Collectively, these points of dispute will boost the risk of miscalculation and escalation toward crisis.

#5 – Global data reckoning

A slowdown or halt to the free flow of sensitive data across borders will raise costs for companies and disrupt popular apps and internet business models. This risk begins with the US and China, but it doesn’t end there. Even as the data-driven 5G and AI revolutions gain steam, other governments concerned about who is accessing their citizens’ data—and how—will erode the foundation of the open global internet. Business models for AI and other innovative tech sectors will suffer. App bans and other issues will hamper global cooperation on public health and climate challenges.

#6 – Cyber tipping point

There is no single factor that raises the risk of a major disaster in cyberspace in 2021. The digital realm, where any computer or smartphone can become an entry point for hackers and nation states, and criminals act with relative impunity, is too unpredictable for that. Instead, a combination of low-probability but high-impact risks and inexorable technology trends will make 2021 the year that cyber conflict creates unprecedented technological and geopolitical risk in cyberspace.

#7 – (Out in the) cold Turkey

Economic setbacks in 2021 and Turkey’s poor Covid response will leave President Recep Tayyip Erdogan struggling to win back voters disillusioned with his two-decade rule. These dynamics will stoke social tensions, prompt a crackdown against the opposition, and encourage Erdogan to launch more foreign policy adventures to fuel nationalism and distract his supporters. But this year, Turkey’s president won’t have international friends to shield him from the consequences.

#8 – Middle East – low oil takes a toll

Energy-producing countries in the Middle East and North Africa faced a collapse in global energy demand in 2020 that left governments from Algeria to Iran with less cash flowing into their coffers—even as the pandemic sickened citizens and weakened economies. 2021 will be worse, because energy prices will remain low. Many of these governments will cut spending, damaging vulnerable private sectors and fueling unemployment. Reforms will slow, and protests will grow.

#9 – Europe after Merkel

Angela Merkel’s departure later this year after 15 years as chancellor will drive the continent’s top risk in 2021. Europe faces an economic hangover from intensified lockdown restrictions in several countries, and Merkel won’t be there to encourage flexibility in the multilateral response. Without the German leader to serve as a strong and neutral negotiator, diplomatic efforts to resolve energy and territorial disputes in the Eastern Mediterranean will struggle, as will the UN process to address Cyprus issues. The EU position will become more hawkish as France pushes more member states to get tough with Turkey, raising the odds of diplomatic rupture.

#10 – Latin America disappoints

Governments in Latin America face intensified versions of the formidable political, social, and economic problems they were confronting before the pandemic. There will be no large-scale vaccinations until late in the year, and countries are poorly positioned to deal with another Covid wave before then. Political and economic pressures will intensify as Argentina and Mexico hold legislative elections in 2021, and voters in Chile, Ecuador, and Peru vote for president.

RED HERRINGS

Trump’s friends in trouble – Trump-friendly leaders such as Erdogan, Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, the UK’s Boris Johnson, and Israel’s Binyamin Netanyahu will engage with the new US president where they can.

Techlash in US – US lawmakers won’t declare war on the tech companies helping to restore post-pandemic growth.

Iran-US confrontation – Ties between the US and Iran will be neither as productive nor destructive as many fear.

JOS, a technology solutions provider for Asia’s changing environment, and its partners, Manulife, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group[1] and Sino Group have announced the shortlisted teams in the annual JOS Innovation Awards. At a kick-off ceremony held today, the thirteen teams, numbering over forty students, participated in a learning and sharing session about customer experience challenges found in the technology, insurance, food beverage services and property sectors.

All those shortlisted can now look forward to the battle round on 12 April 2019 where four teams will walk away with HK$30,000 each and win a place on the JOS Innovation Awards 2018-19 mentorship programme. Industry pundits from JOS, Manulife, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group and Sino Group will provide valuable insights into learning and what it takes to succeed in business together with potentially offering internships.

“This year, the JOS Innovation Awards yet again attracted high calibre entries from students who approached the customer experience theme with great enthusiasm and creativity. There were some amazing ideas put forward and it was very hard to determine the shortlisted entries,” said Eric Or, Managing Director, Greater China, JOS. “Today’s sharing session allowed executives and students a common platform to voice their thoughts on current and future customer experience trends and how these may be addressed.”

The Awards themselves are designed to demonstrate creative thinking and problem solving skills to everyday business challenges. The JOS Innovation Awards 2018-19 attracted over fifty teams of between two and five university students in Hong Kong all examining the customer experience challenge and coming up with solutions for JOS, Manulife, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group and Sino Group.

“Especially impressive was how the entrants highlighted specific issues associated with the insurance sector and showed an understanding of the critical role our agents play in the customer experience journey,” said Francesco Lagutaine, Chief Marketing and Experience Design Officer, Manulife Asia. “Manulife is focused on helping people make decisions easier and their lives better and leveraging technology to deliver on this. We’re excited to see the ideas the students present after gaining more understanding of our industry and customers.”

During the kick-off ceremony, representatives from JOS, Manulife, Maxim’s Caterers Limited, and Sino Group took part in a panel discussion on customer experience, the challenges faced, trends and spoke about the JOS Innovation Award submissions. The session also provided the teams with genuine insights and learnings from Hong Kong business leaders in a closed-door setting.

“The customer journey is evolving in an increasingly tech-savvy world where everything is available at our fingertips. This is the same for the food and beverage industry with customers opting for diversity, speed and convenience. This requires innovative ways to understand the customers’ decision-making process. We are excited to gain inspiration from all the entries as this brings us even closer to customers and further enhances the overall customer experience,” said Louis Mah, Director of Information Technology, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group.

“The JOS Innovation Awards entries provide us with valuable insights to keep the customer experience fresh and relevant in the new era, particular at our properties. These enable us to identify areas for improvement and to harness technology to enhance the Sino Experience,” said Andrew Young, Associate Director (Innovation), Sino Group.

“There are over twenty thousand students graduating from Hong Kong universities every year who look to gravitate towards companies they perceive to have the strongest brands. This perception is shaped, in part, by the experience they have received as customers. Thus, the customer experience theme has allowed every participant to address issues they have experienced and to find a solution,” said Eric from JOS.

Hong Kong, China, December 3, 2018 /Xinwengao.com/ - CEVA’s Bluetooth Dual Mode IP enhanced to work seamlessly with Tempow’s patented True Wireless Earbuds technology, eliminating the need for power-hungry inter-earbud wireless link

CEVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEVA), the leading licensor of signal processing platforms and artificial intelligence processors for smarter, connected devices, along with Tempow, today unveiled a collaboration to bring next-generation True Wireless Stereo (TWS) to the Bluetooth earbud mass market. The resulting joint IP solution delivers synchronized left/right audio over standard Bluetooth dual mode connected links with short latency and without the power consumption penalty associated with many of today’s TWS implementations.

Audio streaming via A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) is a proven strength of Bluetooth, but with the advent of wireless earbuds, new challenges have arisen. With traditional Bluetooth stereo headphones, the headphones are seen as a single end-point. With earbuds, however, the left/right sink points are now physically separated and the Bluetooth A2DP paradigm is challenged to stream audio with the necessary degree of synchronization. To date, a number of different solutions have appeared to address this, such as audio-forwarding and eavesdropping, but these solutions often result in significant battery drain on the already power-restricted earbuds.

Tempow and CEVA are leading the charge on a new, optimized approach which eliminates the need for the inter-earbud secondary wireless link and which works with any Bluetooth AD2P enabled phone on the market. Within the phone, a straight forward software update is needed to install the Tempow Audio Profile (TAP). Within the earbuds, CEVA and Tempow have collaborated to implement a joint solution, which delivers the essential high quality audio synchronization over standard Classic Bluetooth BR/EDR links. This solution was demonstrated to a wide audience, with much praise, at the recent CEVA Technology Symposiums in Asia.

“The seamless integration of Tempow’s True Wireless Earbuds (TWE) patented technology with CEVA’s market leading Bluetooth IP delivers an optimal solution for the earbud stereo power consumption challenge,” said Vincent Nallatamby, CEO of Tempow. “By ensuring compatibility with existing phone hardware, the TWE technology is already gaining strong traction with leading vendors.”

“The collaboration with Tempow has been immensely successful in addressing a key technical challenge for earbuds”, said Aviv Malinovitch, vice president and general manager of the Connectivity Business Unit at CEVA. “We anticipate that this solution will become widely adopted in the burgeoning Bluetooth earbud market.”

Webinar
CEVA and Tempow will host a joint webinar titled: “Turnkey solution for Bluetooth true wireless stereo ear buds and speakers” on December 5th. For more information and to register, please visit http://bit.ly/CEVATempow.

Flexible software development network solutions reduce time needed to deploy virtual workloads and simplifies private cloud integration

Hong Kong, 9 Jan 2018 – Global ICT solutions and services provider, Dimension Data, has been chosen to provide Software Defined Network (SDN) solutions to one of the world’s largest integrated container transportation, logistics and terminal companies. Under the agreement, Dimension Data will provide them with a flexible virtual network provisioning and service chaining platform that can be deployed with their existing network infrastructure, eliminating the need for investing in new network hardware.

The organisation has consistently focused on providing customer-centric solutions through the use of information technology and innovation, including the use of e-commerce for the management of its cargo process. However, they faced limitations when the existing data centre network architecture failed to provide sufficient flexibility, multi-tenancy features and integration to their private cloud. To overcome these challenges, they are building a next-generation Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system on top of their IaaS cloud platform – and were seeking a solution that would facilitate this, as well as, allow scalability and secured multi-tenancy between carriers.

Dimension Data proposed a solution that unifies the network architecture within the data centre, simplifying processes for data centre expansion and migration. This would allow applications to be deployed as fast as possible and provide a holistic view in ensuring that the infrastructure meets the current and future requirements of the business. The solution approach aims to deliver tangible improvements to operations by shortening the time needed for data centre interconnects and for deploying virtual workloads. This will promote greater agility in scaling the ERP platform through the openstack infrastructure.

“We are excited to be working with one of the world’s largest integrated transport and logistics companies. They are known for their commitment to continuous innovation and services excellence. Our solutions approach and implementation will enable them to scale in an agile and secure manner and we are fully committed to supporting them to meet their evolving business needs and keep them at the forefront of innovation,” said Steven Medeiros, President, Dimension Data Hong Kong.

– ENDS –

One of France’s most successful luxury goods conglomerates has chosen Dimension Data, the global ICT solutions and services provider, to help it standardize, centralize and manage its IT operations across 10 markets in the Asia Pacific region.

Part of a global IT initiative, the development will enable the luxury goods retailer to improve operational efficiency and boost customer satisfaction in its largest and fastest-growing geography. Under a three-year contract, Dimension Data will provide consulting services, a multi-lingual 24/7 service desk, as well as on-site support for the organisation’s offices and network of more than 660 retail stores throughout the region.

“Dimension Data’s experience in supporting clients in the luxury market segment was a deciding factor in this win. We’ve developed a close working relationship with the client over the last four years, providing equipment and Uptime support services to its network across the Asia Pacific region,” says Steve Lam, Managing Director at Dimension Data Hong Kong.

In addition to providing consulting services to determine the most effective way to standardize IT operations to maximise the value of technology, Dimension Data is also managing the retailer’s core IT solutions such as its POS (point of sale) system, ITSM (IT Service Management). This includes building and operating a dedicated service desk that “speaks” a variety of languages in daily use around the region, such as English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Japanese.

Dimension Data’s Service Desk best practices will ensure a standardized and repeatable, end-to-end IT process for the luxury goods giant. Such best practices will also reduce the likelihood of repeated incidents or the need for daily “fire-fighting” that characterized the organisation’s original IT architecture.

Under the contract, Dimension Data will provide other services, from team empowerment to project management and onsite support to ensure complete end-to-end IT management. A transition team will conduct in-country workshops to interview stakeholders and fine-tune the service delivery mode, which will be rolled out across the region in phases.

Centralized billing with a flexible charging scheme will deliver predictable IT spending and minimize the administrative burden across Asia Pacific. A sophisticated human resource management and training framework, will ensure that the IT fully supports rather than hinders the organisation’s ability to compete in the demanding luxury brand industry.

“The contract includes well defined SLAs and measurable KPIs to provide a scientific basis for continuous service improvement. Combine these with an effective governance model, a co-joint steering committee that meets regularly to review overall performance and plan ahead for future business needs, and the R.O.I. should be rapid and sustained,” said Lam.

About Dimension Data

This is according to 40% of 800 organisations in 15 countries on five continents that were interviewed for Dimension Data’s Digital Workplace Report: Transforming Your Business which was published today.

Another insight in the Report is that digital transformation is not just about adopting the technologies of the past: 62% of research participants expect to have technology such as virtual advisors in their organisations within the next two years. In addition, 58% expect to start actively investing in technology that powers virtual advisors in the next two years.

Today, the digital workplace is no longer just made up of managers and those managed; co-workers collaborating with one another to complete projects; and employees interacting with customers and partners. It’s increasingly populated by ‘virtual employees’ who do not exist in a physical sense, but nonetheless play an important role in the organisation.

While artificial intelligence (AI) technology is still in its infancy, it is sufficiently advanced to be working its way into companies in the form of virtual assistants, and, in certain industries such as banking, virtual tellers and virtual advisors. Manifested as bots embedded into specific applications, virtual assistants draw on AI engines and machine learning technology to respond to basic queries.

“It’s no longer enough to simply implement these technologies,” says Kane Steele, End-user Computing – General Manager. “Organisations have grown their use of analytics to understand how these technologies impact their business performance: 64% use analytics to improve their customer services, and 58% use analytics to benchmark their workplace technologies.”

Meanwhile, around 30% of organisations said they’re far along in their digital transformation initiatives and are already reaping the benefits, while others are still in the early stages of developing a plan.

Steele says one reason that could be holding companies back from implementing a digital workplace is their corporate culture. Often, technology and corporate culture inhibit – rather than encourage – workstyle change. However, the number one barrier to successful adoption of new workstyles was IT issues, and research participants cited organisational issues as another.

“The complexity of the existing IT infrastructure can present a major hurdle to implementing new collaboration and productivity tools to support flexible workstyles. Successful transformation implementations are achieved when IT works closely with line-of-business heads,” says Steele and adds that these transformations are supporting new ways of doing business or supporting clients.

IT leaders were asked to rank which technologies were most important to their digital workplace strategies.

Harold Thng, Director – Customer Experience, Dimension Data Asia Pacific, believes that mobility is pivotal to a digital workplace. “Business leaders and CIOs are switched on to the importance of mobility in the digital workplace, with an even mix of companies supporting company-provided and employee-owned devices in the work environment.”

Enterprises are also turning to new workplace technologies to drive increased customer service, with 45% of respondents saying they’ve improved customer satisfaction as a result of their use of digital workplace technology.

ADIAL has manufactured pizza vending machines since 2002, and its original design used mechanical selection buttons alongside a colour LCD screen to present appealing images of the product inside. However, Vincent Le Gouic, President of ADIAL, noticed that users were increasingly trying to touch the screens when choosing a pizza.

He says, “Pizza is the best-selling fast food in France. As a nation, we consume 16 pizzas for every hamburger. PIZZADOOR is carefully designed to deliver the highest quality product. We need to be up to date in terms of the customer experience, especially as almost all our customers now have tablets and smartphones. As a consequence, they expect to be able to interact with other screens in exactly the same way. Therefore, we contacted Eurocomposant with a view to offering a touch screen enabled version of PIZZADOOR.”

Delphine Haton, of Eurocomposant, explains the challenging nature of the application. “ADIAL required a relatively large touch screen, of 31.5” diagonal, which needed to operate reliably, despite the high levels of wear and tear that self-service systems deployed in unattended outdoor locations are subjected to. The quality of the touch performance and the dependability of the screens needed to be very high, as snack foods such as pizzas can often be impulse purchases and customers will walk away if the interaction with the system is unreliable or difficult. Furthermore, although ADIAL is a leader in this market, the quantities of vending machines built are relatively low.”

Zytronic ticked all of the boxes for ADIAL, explained Delphine Haton, “Zytronic provides an outstanding solution for this kind of self-service application. We have had considerable experience of using its touchscreens in outdoor, public locations, exposed to the weather, extreme temperatures and the risk of vandalism and abuse. The quality of its touch performance is also exceptional – they genuinely provide a tablet-like performance, even on a large format touch screen. Zytronic’s flexible manufacturing process also allows ADIAL to order touch sensors as required in the volumes needed to fulfil orders as received. As a result, ADIAL is delighted with the result.”

Mr Le Gouic continues, “The touch screen enabled version of PIZZADOOR has proved extremely popular, and now accounts for the majority of the machines sold. Demand was such that we ran out of touch screens at one point. Fortunately, Zytronic was able to respond quickly and allowed us to fulfil orders without a serious delay.”

Zytronic provided a 31.5” diagonal, dual-touch ZYBRID#8482; touch sensor featuring a durable 6mm thick anti-glare glass, with a custom printed black border. Zytronic also laminates UV blocking and IR blocking filters to the rear of the touchscreens for the purely outdoor version of the pizza vending machine, enhancing the protection for the LCD behind.

PIZZADOOR is designed for installation in rest areas, truck stops, limited service hotels, hospitals, offices, and railway stations. It is also widely used by pizza restaurants in smaller municipalities in France, which can’t justify extended opening hours. Product is stored in a cooling unit, which maintains it in peak condition for the maximum time period, and carefully dispenses in order of age to minimise wastage. Customers can choose a hot pizza to eat straight away, or cold to cook and consume at home. Cooked pizzas are heated in a pulsed warm air oven delivering brown and crunchy pizzas in just 3 minutes, and are supplied in a hygienic, food grade cardboard box.. As a consequence of the success of the touchscreen enabled PIZZADOOR vending machine, ADIAL’s revenue has grown by over 30% per annum over the last four years.

About Zytronic

Zytronic Displays Ltd internationally award-winning touch sensors are used globally in ATMs, digital signage, self-service kiosks and gaming machines as well as by industrial and medical OEMs. The company’s success rests on its patented and highly durable touch sensing technologies, which can be provided in custom designs of 85” and beyond.

Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.), organisers of the Tour de France, and Dimension Data, the Official Technology Partner of the Tour de France, today announced the introduction of machine learning technologies at this year’s Tour de France to give cycling fans across the globe an unprecedented experience of this year’s event. The race begins in D#252;sseldorf on Saturday and finishes at the Champs-#201;lys#233;es in Paris on 23 July.

This year, Dimension Data’s data analytics platform, which was developed in partnership with A.S.O., incorporates machine learning and complex algorithms that combine live and historical race data to provide even deeper levels of insight as the race unfolds. Fans will also benefit from rider profiles to understand more about environments and circumstances in which riders perform best.

As part of a new pilot this year, A.S.O. and Dimension Data are exploring the role of predictive analytics technologies to assess the likelihood of various race scenarios, such as whether the peloton will catch the breakaway riders at certain stages of the race.

Scott Gibson, Dimension Data’s Group Executive – Digital Practice said, “As more technology is introduced into sport, the viewing experience is transforming, and its popularity increases. What’s especially exciting for us is how we’re helping A.S.O. to attract a new generation of digitally savvy fans, and how advanced technologies like machine learning are opening up new possibilities for providing the insights that today’s fans demand.”

At the core of the live tracking and data analytics solution are GPS transponders installed under the saddles of each bike. The data collected from these transponders is combined with external data about the course gradient and prevailing weather conditions to generate insights such as live speed and the location of individual riders, distance between riders, and composition of groups within the race. This year, the solution will create and analyse over 3 billion data points during the 21 stages of the Tour, a significant increase from last year’s 128 million data points.

Christian Prudhomme, Director of the Tour de France, A.S.O. said, “Today, our followers want to be immersed in the event. They’re more digitally engaged on social media than ever before, and want a live and compelling second-screen experience during the Tour. Technology enables us to completely transform their experience of the race.”

The enhanced Tour de France solution uses a fully cloud-based, virtualised data centre which provides scale, and means fewer people are required on the ground to enable the solution. The cloud also provides geographic flexibility because it can be managed from anywhere in the world. This year, Dimension Data’s technical teams work together across four continents via hyperconnected mobile collaboration hubs equipped with the latest digital and virtual workplace technologies.

Some Tour de France highlights include:

198 riders in 22 teams will generate over 150 million geospatial and environmental data readings along the 3,540km route.
The Tour de France live-tracking website, racecenter.letour.fr, which supported an average of 2,000 page requests per second in 2016, has been enhanced to support 25,000 page requests per second this year.
In 2016 there were 6,100 hours of TV broadcasts in 190 countries across 100 channels globally. Thanks to A.S.O., the number of TV broadcast hours will increase from 80 in 2016 to 105 this year and the race will be broadcast starting from the first kilometre of every stage.
Cybersecurity is a top priority for the Tour de France. During the 2016 race, Dimension Data’s cloud-based security system flagged 1,409,769 suspicious access attempts which were blocked.
For images and infographic please click here
Visit Dimension Data’s Tour de France microsite
View video
Dimension Data’s Tour de France newsroom
Follow us on @letourdata for live race data updates on A.S.O’s official twitter channel
Follow the progress of the race with live tracking on racecenter.letour.fr

This included over 70 popular tourism hotspots in Kazakhstan including picturesque national parks, UNESCO World Heritage sites, ski and health resorts, and more. The jewel in the crown was a presentation on ASTANA EXPO 2017; a spectacular and must see destination on the Silk Road.

Open now until 10 September 2017 and themed as the ‘Future of Energy’, ASTANA EXPO 2017 features participants from 115 countries and 22 international organizations who are showcasing and discussing global issues relating to developing renewable energy sources.

According to Roza Assanbayeva, President, Kazakhstan Tourist Association, the exhibition in Astana will become a new point on the route of the great Silk Road, and added:

“In 1889, the Eiffel Tower became the symbol of the Paris Expo. Now this is a tourist attraction not only in France, but throughout Europe. The symbol of Astana EXPO 2017 is Nur Alem, a beautiful spherical building.”

Nur Alem is the architectural symbol of the ASTANA EXPO 2017, and is the world’s largest spherical building with an 80 metre diameter and 100 metres high. Inside, the Kazakhstan Pavilion is on the first floor and features history, culture, traditions, places of interest and recent milestones.

The sphere has the Museum of Future; an important research and innovation hub that will be a cultural centre after the Expo. The other floors showcase digital, multimedia and interactive technologies where different energies are demonstrated such as space, sun, biomass, wind, water and kinetics.

For tourists from China, who arrive in the country via Astana and Almaty airports, there is a visa-free scheme of up to 72 hours if visitors are in transit. There is also an agreement on visas between Kazakhstan and the HKSAR (although travelers are advised to check on the conditions prior to departure).

All AccorHotels guests can use this new feature, Business Check powered by LinkedIn, to create and facilitate business opportunities. By allowing travellers to identify people in their professional network who are based in the city they are in and suggesting relevant profiles to connect with, this new feature enables professionals to stay connected on the move.

Romain Roulleau, Senior Vice President for E-commerce & Digital Services at AccorHotels commented, “This partnership between AccorHotels and LinkedIn is a world first in the hospitality industry. It will enrich the services we already offer on our mobile app which is used before, during and after the stay, notably by business travellers, who represent 60% of the app’s users. This new feature creates business opportunities, and our app will therefore facilitate and foster seamless, instinctive business travel sharing, thus generating guest engagement and visibility for our hotels.”

Joshua Graff VP Marketing Solutions EMEA at LinkedIn commented, “There are over 26 million business travellers on LinkedIn and by partnering with one of the world’s leading travel groups, these professionals can now be even more informed, connected and productive while on the go. We all like to get the most out of our business trips abroad and this new feature will make it even easier to connect with clients, prospects, suppliers and colleagues old and new.”

Before and during the stay: share with your network and develop it in one click

With Business Check powered by LinkedIn now available on the AccorHotels app, mobile and tablet users with bookings in an AccorHotels establishment can:

– Connect to their LinkedIn account and share their next business trip destination with their network in one click.

– Find out which of their LinkedIn contacts reside in the city they are staying in again, see them again or get to know them better and contact them directly using either a personal email or Inmail.

– Develop their network thanks to Business Check powered by LinkedIn’s suggested list of relevant profiles residing in their travel destination.

Business Check powered by LinkedIn has been available on the AccorHotels app since September 2016 in its 18 languages (English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Indonesian, Korean, Arabic, Turkish, Thai, and Swedish).

This new service rounds out AccorHotels’ feature-rich app which is designed to assist travellers before, during and after the hotel stay and is currently downloaded five times a minute.

To accompany the launch of BusinessCheck powered by Linkedin, AccorHotels is enriching its LinkedIn content strategy to target international and national travellers in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Australia and Brazil.

From 19th October to 19th December, it will run a campaign of Sponsored Content and InMails under the slogan “Boost business opportunity all over the world”. These informative, useful and entertaining messages, complete with illustrations, computer graphics, stop-motion, photos and more, will insert effortlessly into business travel life.

This app will simplify employee shift schedule management for the world’s leading hotel operator.

Staff Hub is the first collaborative application that allows hoteliers and their teams to manage their schedules completely on their mobile phones. It was developed using an agile method, after a field study conducted in close collaboration with the hotels’ employees, and has been tested in Sofitel establishments in the United States and Dubai and at the Novotel Roissy Charles de Gaulle, in France.

AccorHotels intends to roll out of the application in its 26 digital plan pilot hotels before deploying it across its entire hotel network from the first semester of 2017.

AccorHotels has 240,000 employees in its hotel brands worldwide. 80% of them serve guests 24/7 and do not have a dedicated computer or a work email address. These deskless employees are, however, highly connected, since 90% have a personal smartphone. As part of its digital plan, AccorHotels wants to provide its employees with devices that will boost their performance and make their daily tasks easier. By engaging its employees in this way, it aims to foster a more personalized and authentic guest experience.

AccorHotels Global Chief Information Officer, Laurent Idrac commented, “With Staff Hub, AccorHotels and Microsoft are offering a very innovative service which is perfectly suited to the needs of deskless hotel employees. AccorHotels is bolstering the technological services it offers its employees, with a special focus on BYOD and a mobile-first approach.”

Jean-Louis Baffier, General Manager, Enterprise & Partner Group at Microsoft France said, “Designing StaffHub with AccorHotels was a particularly important project for Microsoft. It reflects our ability to assist our customers and co-construct innovative applications with them that are perfectly suited to their business needs. It also demonstrates just how agile Office 365 is. This collaborative platform can offer brand new services integrated in an environment that is already familiar to over 1.2 billion users worldwide.”

Staff Hub will be available in EASY (Employee AppStore for You), AccorHotels’ soon-to-be-launched internal mobile app store. As well as Staff Hub, employees will be able to download other apps on their smartphones, including Yammer, the internal social network; Open Ideas, an internal collaborative innovation platform; and Voice of the Guest, the e-reputation management tool.

Sofitel has launched the 2016 “Sofitel Wine Days”, a global brand animation taking place from September 21st to October 31st, during which Sofitel hotels will celebrate French wine and art de vivre.

Shanghai, China, September 20, 2016 /Xinwengao.com/ - This 5th edition of Wine Days will provide the opportunity to illustrate Sofitel’s commitment to wine by means of a variety of events that will enable everyone to make daring new discoveries or deepen their knowledge of the world of wine.

On the occasion of its wine days, Sofitel commissioned a study in 2015 with the French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP) about the art of wine. This exclusive study in two parts (Image and Imaginary of Wine in 2015 and Wine Consumption in 2016) had a study sample from seven countries (Australia, Brazil, China, France, India, Russia, and the United States). Last year, the study revealed compelling findings about the image and imaginary of wine. This year, Sofitel has focused on how wine is currently consumed. Brand new graphics will be unveiled on social media under the hashtag #SofitelWineDays.

From Australia to India as well as the United States, the desire to know more about wine is everywhere. This goes hand in hand with the general increase in the number of consumers. According to a study presented by Sofitel, 34% of those surveyed define themselves as wine novices but are keen to know about French wines. Furthermore, 45% of those surveyed – across all nationalities – expressed a desire to further their knowledge of French wines. “This confirms that France is a world leader in this field, with an undeniable image of excellence that is recognised all over the world.”

Sofitel Wine Days tastings represent a unique experience for wine lovers, providing the ideal framework to benefit from the brand’s know-how, thanks in particular to its 50 years’ experience that has allowed it to refine its expertise, its master sommeliers, a high quality wine library and exceptional wines served at the event.

Now in its fifth year, the common theme of this celebration is to pay tribute to wine. In Greater China, the 2016 edition offers guests a dazzling programme of events, which have been specially designed for the occasion. Numerous tastings, events, discoveries and meetings will be held at Sofitel hotels, offering diverse wine-oriented experiences to guests. The First Master of Wine in Mainland China, Fongyee Walker, has been invited as a guest sommelier. She will conduct wine master classes and participate in opening and closing wine events at Sofitel Wanda Beijing and Sofitel Legend People’s Grand Hotel Xian, as well as creating a wine dinner menu with French Chef de Cuisine Fatela Yohan at Heritage French restaurant at Sofitel Wanda Beijing.

Sofitel Kunming will host a “Dining in the dark” event, featuring a creative menu with wines and cocktails, on 28th and 29th October. At Sofitel Nanjing Galaxy, on 14th October, guests will be able to explore the pleasurable experiences hidden in the less familiar world of French organic wines including Gérard Bertrand and Château l’Hospitalet. Customers can also attend “After-work Wine & Saxophone” evenings, savour wine-based cocktails and enjoy gastronomic meals.

Sofitel Wine Days in Greater China will delight guests with a number of other surprises, for the enjoyment of amateurs and aficionados alike!
