Hong Kong, China, March 30, 2021 /Xinwengao.com/ - The United States is the single most popular destination for cross-border residential real estate buyers from across Asia, according to the new Top 10 Asian Buyer Picks report from Asian real estate technology group Juwai IQI.

Australia, Thailand, Canada and Malaysia make up the rest of the top five markets. Japan is sixth most popular, followed by Singapore, the UK, New Zealand and France.

Of the ten most popular Asian-buyer markets, six are in the Asia Pacific. The US, Canada, the UK and France are the only top-ten nations not in the Asia Pacific.

Juwai IQI’s report identifies four drivers of Asian cross-border buying demand.

Interest rates have dropped to historic lows and monetary stimulus has helped drive prices upward in many markets. Buyers worry as a result that they will miss out on future price gains. They are eager to find opportunities to benefit from price growth.

Because of the pandemic, many Asian buyers have reevaluated their cross-border real estate priorities. This is similar to changes that have occurred within local markets.

Some Asian cross-border buyers are also driven by factors in their home markets that make investing there less appealing. In China, government real estate restrictions cause some buyers to look overseas. Other countries face insufficient inventory or weak confidence. There is a large number of buyers who postponed acquisitions during the pandemic and are eager to make up for lost time.

“In 2020, the pandemic scrambled existing patterns of investment, migration and overseas education,” said Juwai IQI Co-Founder and Group Executive Chairman Georg Chmiel.

“All of these factors have a direct bearing on Asian cross-border real estate investment.”

Hong Kong, China, March 2, 2021 /Xinwengao.com/ - Six-fold more mainland Chinese investment flows into Australian residential real estate than into housing in the United States, when adjusted for GDP, according to new research from Juwai IQI.

This startling statistic comes from Juwai IQI’s new Q1 2021 residential real estate report, “Asian Investment in Australia.” The unprecedented report is sponsored by Kay & Burton, the leader in Melbourne’s premium real estate market.

China is not the only major Asian investor in Australia, however. Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan also lead in inbound investment. Thailand and Vietnam are prominent growth countries.

COVID-19 has had a significant negative impact, knocking Chinese real estate buyer enquiries back by some 19.2% in 2020.

Juwai IQI Co-Founder and Group Executive Chairman Georg Chmiel said:

“What you can obtain by reading the ‘Asian Investment in Australia’ report is a clear overview of one of the world’s most significant channels of residential property investment. The report includes data on total investment by source country, investor preferences, the impact of COVID-19 and the post-pandemic outlook.”

“Asian Investment in Australia” also includes an exclusive interview with Jamie Mi, Partner & Head of International Division at Kay & Burton, the report’s sponsor. Mi explains why she expects inbound investment to rebound from the second half of 2021 and Significant Investor Visas seems to have accelerated.

Kay & Burton’s Mi said:

“Thee Asian communities overseas are watching Australia very closely. There are many positive reasons they like Australia, including education, the stable political environment, and how we are handling COVID-19 thus far.

“Next year, there will be plenty of buyers coming in and plenty of offshore wealth invested in Australia. It will be Asian buyers, and also buyers from the U.S. and U.K. and expats.”

Tokyo, Japan, November 5, 2020 /Xinwengao.com/ - KYOWA HAKKO BIO CO. LTD. (Kyowa Hakko Bio), a subsidiary of Kirin Holdings Company, Limited (Kirin Holdings), has announced that it will establish a new facility to manufacture human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) in Thailand. Kyowa Hakko Bio decided on the move with expectations of a future increase in global demand for HMOs. This move further expands its global footprint to consolidate its position as a global specialty fermentation manufacturer.

The new facility is to be established at Kyowa Hakko Bio’s subsidiary Thai Kyowa Biotechnologies Co., Ltd. (Thai Kyowa) in Rayong Province, Thailand. The new facility is scheduled to open operations in the summer of 2022.

Kyowa Hakko Bio was the first company in the world to establish an industrial-scale HMO production system*1, and the actual application of this system will be the core of the company’s medium- to long-term growth strategy. After the establishment of this production system, Kyowa Hakko Bio plans to supply HMOs to other companies as well as utilize it for its own and the Kirin Group’s product development.

*1: Tetsuo Endo et. al.,Appl. Microbiol. Biotechnol. 53, 257-261 (2000)

Under Kirin Holdings’ medium-term business plan, Kyowa Hakko Bio will continue to make fundamental improvements to its quality assurance system and other operations. In addition, Kyowa Hakko Bio aims to grow into a global-scale specialty fermentation manufacturer featuring a large number of highly profitable product pipelines in the future. Kyowa Hakko Bio plans to accomplish this by leveraging the strength of its fermentation technology that it has cultivated over 60 years.

Outline of the new HMOs production facility

1. Start of operation: Summer in 2022 (planned)

2. Production site to be introduced at:

THAI KYOWA BIOTECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

3. Location: Rayong Province, Thailand

4. Production capacity: approximately 300 metric tons per year

5. Products to be manufactured: Three products among HMOs

(2FL, 3SL, 6SL)*2

*2: 2FL (2′-fucosyllactose), 3SL (3′-sialyllactose), 6SL (6′-sialyllactose)

Background – Global Scale

Kyowa Hakko Bio has already established manufacturing processes for three of its HMOs (2FL, 3SL and 6SL). In particular, 3SL and 6SL, for which Kyowa Hakko Bio holds several registered patents, however have never yet been supplied on an industrial scale.

Kyowa Hakko Bio will be able to secure a competitive advantage through its strain development and manufacturing process development capabilities.

Future growth in demand is expected in China and Southeast Asian markets; so locating a manufacturing base in Thailand will provide Kyowa Hakko Bio with a secure supply capacity and cost competitiveness close to large consumption areas.

What are human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs)?

Particular oligosaccharides*3 found in human breast milk. HMOs are the third most common solid component in human breast milk, after lactose and lipids, and are particularly abundant in human colostrum. It is rarely found in milk derived from other mammals, such as cow’s milk.

In addition to 2FL, 3SL and 6SL, more than 250 HMOs have now been identified in human breast milk. Recent studies have shown that HMOs promote brain development in newborns, act on the development of the immune system, increase resistance to infection, and have anti-inflammatory effect. It has also been reported that HMOs can increase the number of bifidobacteria and improve the intestinal environment.

*3: A carbohydrate whose molecules are composed of a relatively small number of simple sugars (monosaccharides).

Currently, Rutronik has three offices in China – in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu – as well as subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand, so the company is well positioned to advise its customers in the region on the BMS solutions they require. That expert advice will be available at the workshop-seminar series, according to the following schedule:

#8226; July 30, 2018: Shenzhen – Marco Polo Hotel
#8226; August 1, 2018: Shanghai – Pudong Holiday Inn
#8226; August 2, 2018: Taipei (TechDay by customer)
#8226; August 3, 2018: Kaohsiung (TechDay by customer)
#8226; August 6, 2018: Thailand (TechDay by customer)

Rutronik offers BMS solutions within its RUTRONIK POWER product range, and this seminar and workshop series is intended to cover all aspects of the BMS engineering design process. This detailed approach will analyze how the stringent monitoring of all relevant LIB parameters can be achieved, under all operating conditions, during both charge and discharge cycles, for the safe operation of LIBs in various applications.

Each of the one-day workshop/TechDay events comprises 6 sessions, covering topics that include:

#8226; Battery management systems
#8226; Battery Cell Technology
#8226; Thermal management
#8226; Functional safety with batteries
#8226; Current distribution
#8226; Analysis during loading and unloading
#8226; Hybrid Energy Storage Systems – comprising batteries plus supercaps
#8226; Digital Power
#8226; Advanced battery diagnosis

“A BMS is an absolute ‘must’ for ensuring the safe operation of today’s lithium-based batteries,” said Andreas Mangler, Strategy Marketing Director at Rutronik. “However, BMS design requires expertise in the latest techniques, such as battery-impedance modeling based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). This workshop series is designed to explain the issues, the engineering options and the state-of-the-art in battery management. Everyone is welcome to attend.”

As part of an ongoing strategy to deepen and maintain an understanding of its customers, global electronics distributor Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH (Rutronik) led a tour of a number of its key supplier sites in China, in June 2018.

Explains Rutronik’s Director of Global Marketing, Gerhard Weinhardt, “The tour afforded our customers a unique insight into the design, production and operational practices at some of our important suppliers, as well as a better understanding of Asian and Chinese culture.”

Facilitated by a ten-strong Rutronik team from across the globe, Weinhardt led the tour in a visit to facilities at Yageo Corporation, CK, Vishay Intertechnology, Chilisin Electronics, DLC Display and RECOM Power, covering technologies across the spectrum of passive components, capacitors, resistors, inductors, discrete semiconductors and converters.

Says Percy Lau, Marketing Director Asia at Rutronik, “We saw this tour as a great opportunity to get to know our customers even better, and, most importantly, to showcase some of the leading technologies and systems in place at facilities in Dongguan, Huizhou, and Xiamen here in China. We hosted 40 key customers on this tour.”

With three offices in China, currently – in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu – as well as subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand, Rutronik is well positioned to advise its global customers about challenges and opportunities in Greater China and Asia as a whole, as well as highlighting the high level of local technological know-how, products and solutions on tap.

A case in point, the huge popularity of ultra-mobile devices in Asia, coupled with their growing complexity, requires innovative designs that are more power-efficient rather than simply more powerful. Momentum in the consumer market will then drive high levels of demand for DC/DC converters across the Asia-Pacific region, while China’s push for electric vehicles will drive demand even higher.

Already, as Rutronik’s business continues to grow and its workforce continues to expand, the existing office space has become too cramped for the company’s needs. Taking into account Rutronik’s recruitment plan for 2020 and the pace of business growth, the decision was made to expand the Shenzhen office. The new office area comprises three additional meeting rooms and four separate offices, accommodating an additional 44 staff. This new office space is well-lit, with large floor-to-ceiling windows, and the layout is more convenient. At this time, the first phase of renovation is complete.

About Rutronik (www.rutronik.com)
Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH is the third largest distributor in Europe (European Distribution Report 2016) and the number ten worldwide (SourceToday, May 2017). The broadline distributor supplies semiconductors, passive and electromechanical components as well as boards, storage, displays wireless products. The company’s primary target markets are the automotive, medical, industrial, home appliance, energy and lighting industries. The ranges RUTRONIK EMBEDDED, RUTRONIK SMART, RUTRONIK POWER and RUTRONIK AUTOMOTIVE provide customers with specific products and services in groups tailored to the respective applications. Expert technical support for product development and design-in, individual logistics and supply chain management solutions as well as comprehensive services complete its scope of performance.

Shorter innovation cycles, greater design complexity, and dynamic market growth – particularly in Asia – now characterize the global electronics industry. Clearly, it is a time of changes and challenges. This is where distributor Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH (Rutronik) plays a key supporting role by offering a variety of value-added services to its clients worldwide, meeting the needs of its customers in Asia, for example, through its established presence in Greater China and Thailand, in the cities of Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Taipei and Bangkok.

Rutronik a key consultancy partner
As markets and components become ever more complex, Rutronik’s customers need an increasing amount of advice – the proportion of ‘design-in’ products in stock at Rutronik has now risen to 70%. Fortunately, in addition to its ‘classic’ broadline distribution business, Rutronik is well qualified to be a consultancy partner, and in this role the company works within a complete ecosystem of proven development partners and assemblers – all available close to the customer.

At the heart of this value-added consultancy service is a large team of application engineers (FAEs), and line and product managers who stay alert to high-tech trends and developments. In close cooperation with the manufacturers, they gain early-stage information about new products, product changes and discontinuations. On this basis, they provide sound advice to customers and alert them promptly whenever a design re-spin appears inevitable. Together the Rutronik team provides consulting for the complete product portfolio, at every technical level.

Distribution 4.0
The concept of Industry 4.0 seeks to automate and accelerate as many processes as possible, using computer-based technology and data analytics to drive major increases in productive efficiency. This is the context in which Rutronik rounds out its value-added services with all the convenience and efficiency of the e-commerce platform Rutronik24.com. Its innovative features help developers choose and purchase parts, and these features include intelligent search capabilities, the ability of the customer to place an order by uploading the BOM, a comprehensive PCN database, detailed product information along with product-manager contact details, plus an overview of all orders, quotes, and contracts, with the purchasing process tracked in real time.

C-parts no problem!
Customers also discover that Rutronik is one of very few distributors who, despite the high handling costs, is able to provide very low-margin C-parts. The distribution of these C-parts, plus the related consultancy services provided by Rutronik, can be regarded as purely value-added services.

The provision of these C-parts is also an example of Rutronik’s expertise as an advisor on logistics for the global electronics industry. Rutronik helps suppliers and customers alike reach informed decisions on communications and networking, logistics fulfilment and procurement.

Adding value through documentation
As well, distributors have to meet ever-increasing requirements for documentation, including documentation of compliance with safety and environmental regulations such as RoHS and Reach. A case in point are the requirements of the EU’s GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), which came into force at the end of May. Here, Rutronik has formed its own GDPR-Compliance team, whose members include experts in electronics.

One-stop value-added services
With Rutronik, customers benefit from a comprehensive range of one-stop value-added services. As a result, they benefit from reduced development time and costs, and therefore a shorter time-to-market in which to deliver faster innovation.

Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH (Rutronik) is a well established player in Asia’s electronics supply chain. The company now has a total of seven sales offices across the region – three on the Chinese mainland (Shenzhen, Shanghai and Chengdu), and one each in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand. Hong Kong also serves as Rutronik’s Asian logistics center.

Rutronik now plans to expand its Asian presence, in terms of both infrastructure and staff. The enlarged facilities, which allow rapidly increasing teams to sit in, include new office room in Shanghai, with move-in at the end of January; as well as in Shenzhen, scheduled for no later than October 2018. In Singapore, a new office with legal entity will be opened within the first quarter. Then three additional offices are planned for the second half of 2018, in Tianjin, Malaysia, and India. An additional warehouse is to be built in Shanghai.

Between now and 2020 the distributor will also be recruiting new talent in the region at an annual rate of 20-50%. The following positions have now been approved and are eagerly recruited: a Customs Clearance Specialist for China business; a Supply Chain Manager; and a Quality Manager.

Optimizing the work environment

New employees at Rutronik will find they are treated well. Rutronik takes its social responsibilities very seriously and seeks to develop its employees’ skills and knowledge to the fullest. The company gives its staff every opportunity to undertake further training at Rutronik’s headquarters in Germany, where they can meet and talk with their German colleagues and exchange vital information about suppliers and markets. They also gain a deeper understanding of Rutronik’s corporate culture.

These training sessions are not all hard work. Visiting colleagues have the opportunity to visit places of interest and take part in local ‘special events.’ Rutronik employee Ted Tsai, from Taiwan, commented that, “The training was a very nice experience. The most memorable event was St. Nicholas Day, celebrated on 6 December. We had so much fun at this big party in the evening, tasting traditional German sausages and drinking mulled wine. This was a truly special event.”

As a responsible employer, Rutronik knows that its human resources are its most valuable resources!

To this end, Rutronik will be the main sponsor for Team HCB-Rutronik Racing from Wilferdingen at the FIA Grand Prix in Macau together with its partners Yageo and Vishay. The event will take place from Thursday, 16 November until Sunday, 19 November. Team HCB-Rutronik Racing will also be receiving support from Audi Sport customer racing.

“Without our powerful partners Yageo, Vishay and Audi Sport customer racing, we would not be able to engage in this degree of commitment in Macau,” says Rutronik CEO Thomas Rudel. As a team, the partners pulled off a real coup: Team HCB-Rutronik Racing’s No. 1 driver behind the wheel of one of the two Audi R8 LMS is none other than the current Formula E world champion Lucas di Grassi. CEO Rudel explains how engaging the Brazilian has a strategic significance that goes beyond the sporting success: “Lucas di Grassi is the Formula E world champion. But he is also an entrepreneur and owner of a company that manufactures innovative e-bikes. Motor sports know-how is one of the ingredients that contributes to the production processes. This means that di Grassi embodies Rutronik’s philosophy as a highly innovative, flexible and dynamic company.”

Initial exchanges between di Grassi and the distributor have already taken place, and Rutronik is interested in intensifying this cooperation. CEO Rudel can also imagine further cooperation with Roborace, the world’s first driverless motor sports platform of which di Grassi is the CEO. The automotive sector is one of Rutronik’s most important business areas; the electronic component distributor achieves over 40% of its turnover in this area. This means the company can make a correspondingly weighty contribution in terms of its expertise and providing access to the latest components.

The company intends to use the Macau Grand Prix as a platform for intensifying its business relationships with important partners including co-sponsors Yageo and Vishay, as well as strengthening its profile on the Asian market in general. In 2016, when Rutronik was main sponsor for HCB-Rutronik Racing in Macau for the first time, 87 TV stations and over 900 radio stations from all over the world reported on the GP, not to mention worldwide streaming services and around 400,000 enthusiastic fans at the event itself.

The world champion‘s optimism

“For me, Macau is one of the most difficult races in the world,” says Lucas di Grassi. “I have already raced here twice in Formula 3 and am very much looking forward to returning. What interests me especially is getting to know the course as an Audi works driver with a GT vehicle. HCB-Rutronik Racing is a highly professional team, and I think we have a good chance of winning the race. That is definitely my aim. The contact with Rutronik also came via HCB, and I am really looking forward to further cooperation in future.” The second HCBRutronik Racing cockpit will be occupied by Fabian Plentz, as was the case last year. This year, HCB-Rutronik Racing is receiving works support from Audi Sport customer racing.

Macau as a factor in Rutronik‘s Asia strategy

The Macau Grand Prix is regarded as being one of the most important motor sport events of the racing year. Since 1954, several Formula 1 drivers have raced in the GP. The winners include Ayrton Senna, Michael and Ralf Schumacher as well as David Coulthard. The GT World Cup in which HCB-Rutronik Racing is taking part has been held since 2008.

“Asia is a huge growth market for Rutronik, and the Macau Grand Prix is one of the largest motor sport events in the world,” as Markus Krieg, Rutronik’s Managing Director for marketing, points out. “Motor racing has to be able to rely on extremely high-quality electronic components that can cope with the most demanding of situations. So from the entrepreneurial point of view, being present at such a high-profile race represents the perfect opportunity for Rutronik to position itself as a technologically competent and reliable partner for local, regional and global customers.” Currently, Rutronik has three offices in China – in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu – as well as subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand.

Gaming PCs remained one of the most important drivers of growth in the computer market globally, as well as in Asia Pacific in the first half of 2017. The continuing boom in the world of electronic games have been stimulating strong consumer demand in this segment, generating 39 percent growth in terms of volume, and a corresponding 36 percent incremental sales value across APAC over the same period a year ago.

Although traditional notebooks and tower desktops are the most sought after computing devices by consumers, the latest GfK report revealed that new form factors such as convertibles, ultra-thin, large all-in-one, and gaming PCs are gaining traction, generating sales amounting to €6.1 billion within Asia Pacific in January to June this year.

“After several challenging years competing with new technologies like tablets and smartphones, gaming PCs have finally developed from a niche segment to a strong selling mainstream product,” highlighted Gerard Tan, senior director, Technology Retail Tracking, GfK Asia. “Gaming enthusiasts are increasingly willing to splurge on enhanced gaming devices to enjoy better graphical experiences and smoother runs.”

Global revenues of all gaming PCs (desktops and notebooks) in the markets measured by GfK (excluding North America) amounted to €1.5 billion, with Asia Pacific registering a share of 34 percent (revenue: €522 million). Within Asia Pacific, China is the largest contributor of gaming notebooks, with Korea and Thailand coming in at second and third positions respectively.

The growth potential of gaming PC has been attracting more players in the market which today stands at 24 brands with their total offering of over 1,700 models, compared to only 810 three years ago.

“In addition to existing dedicated PC gaming models, mainstream computer manufacturers are also coming up with their own gaming series with competitive specs and pricings to target the mass market,” observed Tan. “With all these exciting developments, fuelled by the growing interest in virtual reality and the roaring success of e-sports, we foresee that the PC gaming segment will continue to remain robust in the foreseeable future,” he added.

PC gaming accessories (monitors, keyboards, headsets, mice) are also enjoying robust sales among consumers as a result of the thriving PC gaming market. Worldwide, this segment achieved a 56 percent increase in sales over the previous year for the period of January to June. Overall, revenues for the first half of 2017 amounted to 1.1 billion euros. In Asia Pacific, significant growth in consumer spend were similarly registered in the gaming centric models of monitors (154%), keyboards (9%), headsets (29%), and mice (21%).

GfK will share the global insights for the IT market at the IFA 2017 in Berlin, 1-6 September 2017.

A leading Taiwanese manufacturer for industrial rubber products has joined forces with global ICT solutions and services provider, Dimension Data, to upgrade its internet telephony infrastructure. The goal is to improve efficiency and optimise collaboration between the organisation’s factories in Taiwan, Mainland China and Thailand.

Experiencing steady growth, the rubber firm decided that it was strategic to invest in IPT technology with the addition of new capabilities such as web conferencing, to facilitate better communication among its manufacturing centres and administrative offices. However, the company wanted a partner that was not only a unified communications expert, but also one with proven multi-country project execution capabilities. Appointing Dimension Data as the rubber firm’s IT partner was a logical choice as Dimension Data met its requirements, and has undertaken other projects for the firm in the past.

“The biggest challenge was upgrading the outdated IP telephony system that the client has been using for years. With no automated migration tools available for this system, our team’s familiarity and expertise with IP telephony systems made it possible for us to design and implement a smooth migration plan for the client,” said Frank Liao, General Manager at Dimension Data Taiwan.

Dimension Data assigned a dedicated project team, developed a comprehensive plan with pre-launch testing and created a solution based on Cisco collaboration technologies. The project includes implementing Cisco Business Edition 7000 (BE7000) – an all-in-one, end-to-end collaboration solution across five sites in Taiwan, China and Thailand.

Besides upgrading the IPT system, the project also includes voice gateway migration, server virtualisation, Jabber instant messaging roll out for mobile users and the development of a private Cisco WebEx Meeting Centre.

The new IPT platform is scalable, less complex and much easier to manage. The use of Jabber and WebEx enables mobility and improves collaboration, as well as allowing comprehensive communications between internal colleagues, external partners and customers.

“The goal was to achieve the business results quickly, increase team productivity, and lower costs. Even though the project is not fully completed, the client is already seeing savings in a host of areas, such as international calls and travel expenses,” said Liao.

– ENDS –

The consumer technology market in Asia Pacific (APAC) has grown tremendously over the past year, with the introduction of new technologies and advancements of existing technologies.

One innovative product that is gaining popularity in the market is the action camera. More brands (from 2 brands in 2015 to 13 brands in 2016) that offer 360-degree features have entered the market. In the last 12 months, emerging markets in APAC have been the key growth driver for such action cameras, registering 57% and 33% increase in sales volume and value respectively, while the region’s developed markets experienced a corresponding 9% and 40% growth last year.

Action cameras with 4K features are also selling well with sales accounting for 47% and 52% growth in volume and value respectively in APAC. Meanwhile, emerging markets in the region contributed up to 46% share of the pie in both volume and value terms.

“Nowadays, consumers are increasingly sharing videos, contributing to the rising popularity of action cameras,” said Gerard Tan, Senior Director, Technology at GfK Asia. “Besides one of its key draw factors of being able to connect seamlessly to today’s smartphones, action cameras also tend to appeal to active consumers who are seeking new and interesting ways to record their lifestyle activities to view or share in full HD quality.”

Another product which has jumped onto the 4K bandwagon is TVs. In the past year, 4K TVs, also known as Ultra High Definition (UHD), have been gaining traction as sales growth hit over 103% in units across APAC in the past 12 months, with the market upgrading the display resolutions from Full High Definition (FHD) to UHD. Demand is expected to continue to rise at a rate of 42% in 2017, with emerging economies projected to register higher growth (55%) due to the erosion of UHD prices.

“There is a rising uptake of 4K TVs as discerning consumers are increasingly choosing UHD TV technology due to its sleek design and better image quality,” observed Tan. “The popularity of UHD will subsequently create more opportunities for content studios to produce better image content, especially when more recording devices are beginning to support 4K recording, enabling more UHD content to be made readily available for consumers.”

Since the advent of the Smart TV in 2011, there have been ample opportunities for companies to develop TV software for its platforms. In the last 12 months, sales of Smart TVs in APAC continued to increase by 40% to reach over 5 million units.

One of the latest technologies available in the TV market is OLED TV—a TV display technology based on the characteristics of organic light-emitting diodes. According to GfK findings, OLED TV has been registering significant growth since its launch in APAC in 2014, growing in demand from 7,000 units in 2014 to 98,000 units in 2016. As more brands continue to come into the equation, the OLED TV market is projected to expand further by more than 63% in 2017, with huge growth anticipated from the developed markets in APAC.

Meanwhile, core wearables, comprising smart watches, and, health and fitness trackers, is yet another thriving category within the consumer electronics. Total sales units in the last year reached 3.3 million across developed APAC markets as consumer spending on the product category grew 9% year on year.
“Heart Rate Sensor and GPS are generally the key features that appeal to consumers looking to purchase a wearable device, and this is reflected in the significant increase in devices that provide these features. The sales of wearables with heart rate sensors rose by 28% within a year, while devices with inbuilt GPS almost doubled (98%) during the same time period,” said Tan.

With consumers embracing the digital lifestyle and using smart devices, the overall consumer technology market in APAC is expected to perform positively this year, with TVs, action cameras and wearables likely to experience further growth.

Note:
#8226;	APAC includes Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Australia and New Zealand
#8226;	GfK Point of Sales tracking period: May 2016 – April 2017 versus May 2015 – April 2016
#8226;	Value growth tracked based on local currency, but common currency for consolidated tracking based on USD.

The partner program evolution is driven by CA’s strategic aim to accelerate growth through focused route-to-market strategies, while delivering exceptional experiences for CA Partners.
The new program introduces two new partner levels, Focus and Global, which demonstrate CA’s investment in strategic partners who are mutually willing to invest in CA’s business. The Focus and Global partners will join CA’s partner community, which includes partners across the Premier, Advanced and Member levels.
The new levels are defined by invitation to strategic partners who can execute within a framework for revenue commitment and expectations, including more stringent business plan requirements and higher thresholds, while CA will provide expanded benefits to support their evolving business models.
Redesigned with a focus on the entire partner experience, CA addressed the opportunities and barriers recognized by their partners across every region and business model. Across interviews with the worldwide partner community, partners shared with CA that they wanted a program in which they could easily understand the benefits and rewards tied to profitability, protection for their investment in opportunity pursuit, and unique benefits to differentiate the rewards compared to the industry.
The new CA Advantage Partner Program is simplified, with richer benefits that reflect the expanded recognition of our most strategic partner contributions and focused route-to-market strategies that help partners accelerate growth, increase revenue potential and drive new opportunities. Specifically, for the first time ever, CA will provide differentiation in rewards by allowing partners to choose their performance rewards as either business development funds, or rebates.
For partners at all levels, the new CA Advantage Partner Program provides:
‧ Increased opportunity to profit: With compelling margins and profitability, the new program offers greater earning potential due to simplification of reward payouts and a variety of demand generation initiatives to help partners grow their business. These initiatives are supported by a new Partner Experience Platform that provides partners better access to assets they need to create integrated marketing programs aligned to specific solutions and a self-service campaign management tool with pre-built co-branded campaigns.
In line with eatigo’s mission to connect empty tables with empty stomachs, users will be able to choose from an expansive list of restaurants ranging from upscale hotel locations, to popular food chains and small-scale eateries, and enjoy the same discounts on a wide variety of cuisines regionally.

You do not need to pay upfront or even use your credit card – users just need to make a reservation on eatigo to enjoy reduced prices on their meals.

Michael Cluzel, eatigo co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, “After great success in Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia, where we seat an average of 1 diner every 5 seconds, we’re excited to continue extending eatigo’s reach throughout Asia. eatigo was developed to help restaurants fill their empty seats during off-peak hours, while also offering users discounted meals at their favourite restaurants. And now with our expansion plans set in motion, we’re looking to connect even more users to great food in Hong Kong.”

With eatigo currently available in Bangkok, Pattaya, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and now Hong Kong, the company has its sights set on more Asian destinations, allowing users all across the region to look forward to enjoying good meals at attractive discounts. With over 120 million HKD in funding to date and TripAdvisor as a major investor, the platform currently boasts over 1 million downloads across the region since it first launched in Thailand. “eatigo is always looking to add more quality dining places to the list, and we believe having a good mix of affordable and upscale options, in addition to the wide variety of cuisines on offer, will keep users coming back to the app for more,” states Michael.

The projects were selected out of over 350 submissions from 14 different countries and regions, including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.

This year’s selections include projects by young directors developing their first feature films, with an unprecedented increase in the number of women filmmakers. Most of the films are family-driven projects that touch on contemporary social issues, while others explore topics such as non-traditional families, marriages in upheaval, and the complexities of parent-child relationships. Shortlisted projects this year also include two genres not usually seen at HAF: science fiction and gothic thriller.

As one of the most recognized film-financing platforms in Asia, HAF continues its role in connecting filmmakers and their upcoming film projects with internationally prominent film financiers, producers, bankers, distributors, buyers, and funders for potential co-production ventures.

Five Hong Kong Projects to Be Presented

This year, the shortlisted projects include five from Hong Kong: veteran filmmaker Derek CHIU Sung-kee’s No.1 Chung Ying Street, a drama that examines the 1967 riots in Hong Kong; Sunny CHAN’s Man on the Dragon, a comedy-drama about five middle-age men who compete in a dragon boat championship to regain the braveness and passion of lives; Impossible Split, from TOM Chung-sing, which tells the inspiring story of bowling athlete WU Siu-hong, who achieved world championship status despite being haunted by a fatal disease. The film is produced by award-winning director Adam WONG, whose films The Way We Dance and She Remembers, He Forgets both received critical acclaim, and whose project Trains in the Night was presented at last year’s HAF.

The Goddess, from Sobel CHAN Ka-lok, pays homage to classic 1930s Chinese films and focuses on the issues of Hong Kong’s public-education system, the lives of Mainland immigrants and conflicts between mother and daughter. CHAN’s League of HK Movie Heroes was selected as one of the five finalists of the HAF/FOX Chinese Film Development Award at the 11th HAF in 2013. Completing the lineup of Hong Kong projects is Forget You, Still Love You?, about a couple whose troubled marriage finds focus again after a husband is diagnosed with a devastating illness, from co-directors Kenneth LAI Siu-Kwan and Paul SZE Pak-Lam, both of whom participated in last year’s HAF with the thriller Hypnotize the Jury.

Speaking on behalf of HAF, Mr. Jacob WONG, Curator of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society and Director of the HAF commented, “We are thrilled to receive HAF submissions worldwide with extremely high quality, offering distinct perspectives on a diversity of vibrant topics. The review process is, as expected, arduous yet exhilirating, and we are very proud of the dedication and persistence of our creative film talents.”

Women Directors Shining at the 15th HAF

Nearly half of the 25 selections consist of projects from female directors, including Femme Fatale, a dark comedy about two women whose parallel lives touch and collide, the first feature from Japanese documentary filmmaker MIYAKE Kyoko; and Made in Bangladesh, the first-ever HAF project from Bangladesh, about garment workers’ rights, from Rubaiyat HOSSAIN.

Other projects include Pawns With No Return, a touching story about fate bringing together an old man and a young boy, from CHEN Yi-Jung of Taiwan; I AM A BANANA!, an East-meets-West cross-cultural romantic comedy, from Honey B SINGH; and Rainbow Mountain, the second feature from Degena Yun of China, a drama about two Mongolian women from different generations whose lives cross paths throughout time and history. Degena’s critically acclaimed first feature, A Simple Goodbye, was presented at the 13th HAF and awarded The Spirit of Asia Award in Tokyo International Film Festival 2015.

Two more documentaries from women directors include The Grassland of Narangerel, which examines environmental challenges in Inner Mongolia, from YING Weiwei of China; and the Israeli-German co-production Leftover Women, from co-directors Shosh SHLAM and Hilla MEDALIA.

Exploring Family Dynamics and Science Fiction Genres

Family dynamics come into focus for several projects this year, including Ten Thousand Happiness from Chinese director Johnny MA, in which the sudden divorce of grandfather from an elite family in China sets off a chain of reaction, forcing each member to evaluate their own relationships with love and happiness; Indian filmmaker Shashwati TALUKDAR’s The New Wife, a Himalayan gothic thriller tale about a young bride’s discovery of the secrets harboured by her respectable new family.

The Asadas, the third feature from NAKANO Ryota of Japan, a drama with humor based on an original story inspired by the photographer Masashi Asada; and Chantou, Australian director Grant SCICLUNA’s gay-family drama about a couple who discover that their adopted Cambodian daughter is a victim of human trafficking.

Other projects include Restore Point from Robert HLOZ, a science-fiction murder mystery set in the future. It is the first sole Czech-Republic project feature to be presented at HAF. Also, an as-yet-untitled project commissioned by the Nara International Film Festival in Japan from director Ida PANAHANDEH and Japanese producer KAWASE Naomi, will be a free modern adaptation of a work by Shakespeare.

The HAF/FOX Project Award Presented to Drifting Lives

Sharing the same vision to encourage quality Chinese-language projects, HAF is pleased to continue its collaboration with FOX International Productions (FIP) and FOX Networks Group (FNG) Asia to present the “HAF/FOX Project Award” to suspense murder-mystery. Drifting Lives, from first-time director Danlly LI of China. The project will receive a cash award of US$10,000 (approx. HK$78,000) and a Development Contract with FOX.
In addition, HAF creates the “Work in Progress Laboratory” as a significant new initiative to help directors and producers securing post-production funds through meetings with distribution agents and film festival programmers. Representatives from shortlisted projects will be invited to present their work at HAF.
1st China LGBT Advertising Showcase, Annual Community Report Released

Shanghai, China, November 18, 2016 /Xinwengao.com/ - WorkForLGBT, leading a coalition including YouGov, Dan Lan / Blued, Rela, and Weber Shandwick, and supported by more than 20 LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) cooperative partners across China, held the 3rd Annual China Pink Market Conference on Monday, November 14th at the Langham Xintiandi Hotel Shanghai.

This was both an LGBT community as well as consumer behavior survey to better understand LGBT people in China today and better serve the future development of this community. The survey was completed in September and released as the 2016 China LGBT Community Report at the 3rd Annual China Pink Market Conference November 14th; providing an authoritative guide for companies wishing to explore the LGBT Pink Market in China.

WorkForLGBT (www.workforlgbt.org) founder Steven Paul Bielinski, lead organizer of the conference, report, and advertising showcase said, “a record number of LGBT people in China are planning to share their identity with more family, friends and co-workers in the coming years, see same-sex marriage as their ideal relationship status, and are looking for companies to voice support for LGBT friendly programs and policies.

More and more companies are realizing the importance of LGBT people as both employees and customers. Earlier this year, WorkForLGBT organized the 2nd China LGBT Talent Job Fair, with 34 Fortune 500 companies (double the number from last year) including Didi Chuxing, BlueFocus, Starbucks, BP, Citigroup, PwC and L’Oreal taking part, showcasing their support for inclusion in the recruiting and retention of talent. This year our 1st Annual China LGBT Advertising Showcase, part of the Pink Market Conference, also released seven original LGBT focused advertisements, including from leading PR agencies, advertising firms, and brands including Edelman, Burson-Marsteller, Golin Magic, and AB InBev. By sharing real world images and showcasing the stories of LGBT people, brands can truly show their support.”

Geng Le, Founder and CEO of Dan Lan, said “for three consecutive years we’ve conducted the China LGBT Community Survey. We’re looking forward to using real world data to help companies, the media, and the public realize the diversity in society and the needs of this community. By putting to use the forces of business we advance both social progress and development.

Sammy Wu, Co-Founder of Re La, shared that “in the 3rd edition of our annual report we’re pleased to see the rates of openness among LGBT people, as well as the market need for same-sex marriage continuing to rise. The LGBT community’s expectations towards businesses has also risen as they look towards companies to support LGBT friendly workplace policies as the number one factor in their purchasing decisions. This is truly the start of a new phase for China’s Pink Market.

Report Highlights

– Making up an estimated 5-10% of any population, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) China has between 70 million and 140 million citizens, with the “Pink Market” here estimated to be worth more than 2 trillion RMB.

– LGBT people are planning to be more out and open. Only 22% of gay and bisexual men and 12% of lesbian and bisexual women plan to tell no one about their identity in the next five years, versus 30% of men and 16% of women last year.

– More (now a majority of) LGBT people see same-sex marriage as their ideal relationship, 54% of men and 65% of women versus just 40% of men and 44% of women a year ago.

– LGBT people expect more from business. More than last year (47% men, 55% women), the most important factor influencing LGBT people’s purchasing decisions again is company support for LGBT friendly policies and regulations (now 56% of men and 62% of women).

– Compared to last year more LGBT people are considering overseas surrogacy and marriage. While surrogacy is expensive for most, marriage ceremonies are not, with 58% of men and 75% of women willing to pay 40,000 to 60,00 RMB to wed abroad.

– Following 2015’s results, pressure from family remains the biggest concern (70%) for those who are part of the LGBT community. This suggests that there is still more to be done to promote understanding and acceptance especially among family members.

– The general tendency for the LGBT community to travel within China (78%) is a lot higher than outside of China (28%). Like last year, the top three countries or regions that are visited outside of China are Hong Kong, Thailand and Macao.
